How to install Borland C++ on Windows 8

Windows-8-logo-300x300[1]This tutorial works perfectly for all of Microsoft’s operating systems, starting from Windows 95 and all the way to Windows 8.

  1. First of all, you’ll need to download the installation kit. You can use this link here to download an archive for it.
  2. You will then need to extract the archive contents on a specific location. On this tutorial, I used my Windows 8 desktop.
  3. Inside the installation folder you will have an install.exe file. Double click it.
  4. Windows 8 will prompt you about using a 16 bit application. You will have to allow this in order to install the software.
  5. The installation wizard will start in a DOS like windows.
  6. You will be prompted about the source drive, meaning that it will ask you about the location of your installation kit. In our case, we will use “C” because the installation kit is on my Desktop.
  7. On the next prompt you will have to hit enter. At this point, the installation software has already detected your source files.
  8. On the next menu, you will have to move your cursor on the “Start” button by using your cursor down key.
  9. After it finishes and if you followed my instructions, you may launch Borland C++ 3.1 from C:BorlandCBinBC.EXE

When the installer asks you to enter the source drive, type in the letter for the drive in which you have the installation kit. In my previous article about the Borland C++ installation I specified the C: drive as the source.
